1- Who are you?
My name is Olli Oilinki, I’m 25 at the moment and live in Oulu, northern Finland. I’m a full-time student of English Philology at the University of Oulu and shoot photos on the side, mostly skateboarding for a Finnish mag called Hang Up, but also other assorted mags and companies. I’ve had some stuff in Kingpin and an Onboard cover, but I’m small potatoes. Whatever money I make from shooting usually goes right back into camera gear and film.
2- Where are you right now?
Right now I’m soothing a hangover with a cold lager at my girlfriend’s flat. I’m sort of homeless at the moment, I sublented my own flat since I’m leaving for Australia in a few weeks.
3- What’s your current camera set up?
I still mostly shoot film, my two main cameras are my darling Hasselblad 2000FC and a lovely Nikon FM-2. For the Hassy, I’ve got a 80/2.8 CF and a 150/4 C T*, A12 and A16 backs, polaroid back, etc. All black, mang. Nikkors include 16/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8, and 80-200/2.8. I do have a Nikon D70 for proofing and assignments, I might get a D3 or a D300 some time down the road. For lighting, I’ve got two Nikon SB-28’s and two Sunpak 120J’s, Pocket Wizards, Manfrotto 001 stands and all sorts of crap for diffusing, colouring and snooting. Everything goes into a Lowepro Phototrekker AWII, it’s a really good, solid bag that is easy on your back.

4- What’s your current skateboard set up?
Real Busenitz 7.8″, Indys, Spitfire 53mm Classics, Swiss bearings.
5- What inspires you?
For photography, I’m mostly inspired by other people’s photos. I’m constantly surfing the net and browsing old and new skatemags, photo books and basically anything I can get my hands on. In life, I’m inspired by Indian food, good coffee, courtyards, literature, film noir, Monty Python and beer.
6- Who inspires you?
Too many to name all. Deeli, Antton Miettinen, Humphries, Sturt, Ryan McGinley, Yousuf Karsh, LIFE photographers, friends, the list is endless. Hiroshi Sugimoto blew me away a while back.

7- What was the last music track you listened to?
I listened through Weezer’s Blue Album, Pinkerton and the new Red Album yesterday whilst laying on a patch of grass next to the river, enjoying the sunshine. Awesome.

boiltheocean.wordpress.com
9- Where can we see your work?

10- Anything you would like to add?
Thanks to everyone who’s let me crash on their sofa or floor, skated in front of my lens or bought me a plane ticket to go shoot flicks. Cheers!
